Bob over at TV Squad posted about Caterer.com’s Little Gordon videos. Anyone who enjoys Gordon Ramsay’s shows Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares will like these videos. In other words, anyone who enjoys watching a blonde British guy cuss and yell at people who don’t deserve such treatment will love these videos. The kid is great. He even has some of the real hot-tempered chef’s mannerisms.

So You Think You Can Dance (season four)

I’m so excited for Joshua, the winner of So You Think You Can Dance this summer. He was a brilliant dancer. Here’s his first routine to “No Air” choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon. He’s dancing with one of the final four dancers, Katee. This was the last routine of the night when the Top 20 performed. By this time, I was ready to turn in. I thought SYTYCD had gone all Idol. The talent would be sub-par and the judges would continually tell us that it was the BEST. SEASON. EVER.

The latter happened time and time again. I really hate it when judges on those shows use superlatives (the best cast, the best hip-hop dancer they’ve ever seen, the best routine of the season). On SYTYCD, the judges have clear favorites and use a lot of their screen time to stroke the choreographers’ egos. Don’t tell me who I’m supposed to like. And stop saying how brilliant Mia Michaels is. The woman is certifiably insane.

While this season wasn’t as good as seasons past, it was not bereft of talent either. In fact, I think Joshua is one of the best and most relatable dancers to ever grace the stage.

Doctor Who? More like Doctor WTF

I just don’t get the allure of Sci-Fi shows. I like Sci-Fi movies. I should clarify: I prefer fantasy and superhero movies to Sci-fi but Sci-Fi can be cool too. But Sci-fi Shows, particularly the British ones, I just don’t like. And it doesn’t stop at just different tastes, I honestly can’t understand why anyone would like them. Unless people watch them because they are awesomely bad.

C.K.’s watching Doctor Who right now and the production quality is horrible. It looks like a stage show. It has this sappy music playing in the background. The special effects are almost non-existent, the robots, aliens and monsters are all lackluster. If this is supposed to be an alternative universe, they are not doing a good job making me belief it. I’m sure Who and Torchwood fans would cry “Sacrilege!”, but I think they should outsource the show to an American studio, make it sexier after selling some ads, then put it back out there. Also the show does nothing to reward a new viewer. But as C.K. says (and I suspect many fans of Sci-Fi would agree), “who needs you?”

With that, I’ll be quiet. Just had to get it off my chest. I tried on a few occasions to “get into” Torchwood, Dr. Who, or even American shows like Battlestar Galactica. And they just miss the mark for me.

Longest running primetime show

I did a post today about the longest running primetime show. No, it’s not The Simpsons. It’s freakin’ 60 Minutes. The only reason I ever watch 60 Minutes is because it’s on right before Sunday’s Big Brother. We end up watching Andy’s aimless rant (this week it was about milk). I think my friend Laura should take over his segment. She has awesome rants.

Busy Busy

I went to a taping of MTV’s Rock the Cradle on Thursday. Afterwards I got to interview Crosby Loggins, Chloe Lattanzi, and Lucy Walsh (the offspring of Kenny Loggins, Olivia Newton John, and Joe Walsh). All were pretty cool and gracious considering they had just finished performing. I used all my willpower to keep from asking Chloe if I could get a picture with her mother. *sings* “Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee…”

Then on Friday I went to the NBC Summer press tour and met a boatload of celebrities. I sat next to Hulk Hogan. Whoa.
